Video Gear

Here is all the video equipment used to make Vlogs and Blogs. All vigorously road tested by NiceRightNow

GoPro

Action Camera

Our favourite action camera just got better with the "Gimbal Killer" Hero7 Black.

iPhone

Smart Phone

iPhone XS Max now has amazing Optical Image Stabilisation.

DSLR

Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera

DSLR's make great video cameras too!

GoPro Video Camera

GoPro Hero7 Black

The Flagship of the 2018 GoPro Hero Range.

Also called the Gimbal Killer due to it’s unbeatable image stabilisation abilities.

GoPro Microphone Adaptor

Essential for plugging in an external microphone to your GoPro.

Suits models from GoPro Hero5 and upwards.

Rode Video Micro

You will need to get an external microphone if you want decent sound with your GoPro.

This Rode mini shotgun microphone is perfect for the job.

Tip: Attach it to your GorrilaPod using an elastic hair band.

Gorrila Pod

The GorillaPod is a compact and versatile tripod, essential for video recording.

The GorillaPod is versatile enough to be used for a pole mount and even a gimbal.

Dual Battery Charger

I recommend you have 4 GoPro batteries in your kit, making a dual battery charger an essential item.

This is the fastest way to charge your spare batteries after an action packed day of capturing video.

Spare Battery

You get your first battery with the camera.

You get your second battery with the dual battery charger.

You should purchase an extra 1 or 2 of these spare batteries.

GoPro Casey

The GoPro Casey is a perfect sized case for all your GoPro accessories.

It’s very compact meaning it fits neatly in any day pack.

The Handler

A floating hand grip is essential if you’re going into the water.

It is also a perfect hand grip for walking around on dry land.

3 Way Arm

A selfie stick, extension pole and tripod all in one.

OK so the tripod is a bit limited, but the 3 way arm is very versatile.

Sleeve and Lanyard

OK so I took some convincing to purchase this one.

But it has turned out to be one of the best GoPro Accessories in my kit.

You can attach it to your neck or your wrist.

LowePro Tahoe CS20 Case

The perfect size case for your GoPro Hero7.

You can comfortably keep your spare batteries and camera in this bag, and let it bounce around the bottom of your day bag with great protection.

Or you can strap sit to your belt for ultra-light travelling.

SD Card

You should never leave home without packing a spare SD card.

Whilst 32GB will usually be sufficient, for just a few dollars more you can double up to a 64GB.

iPhone XS Max

The flagship model for 2018, this is my new camera of choice.

The iPhone X and iPhone XS are game changers with regards to Optical Image Stabilisation.

Shure MV88 External Microphone

Even though iPhone microphones are reasonable with the XS range, you still should consider going pro.

These are the best iPhone external microphones with a lightning adaptor. You will get true professional quality audio with the MV88.

GorillaPod

Use this as a Tripod and a Hand Grip for your iPhone.

It’s a fairly bulky, solid model to keep your expensive iPhone nice and safe.

MEphoto Smart Phone Adaptor

This super handy devise holds your iPhone to the GorillaPod.

The good thing with this one is that it’s quick to change from landscape to portrait mode by rotating the adaptor.

D5300 DSLR Camera

This is the time to bundle up all the accessories, especially an expensive telephoto lens.

I recommend getting a 18-55 Prime Lens for your everyday photography, and a 70-300mm Telephoto lens for you zoom and macro photography.

LowePro Case

D5300’s are not waterproof camera, so you need a rugged and at least partially waterproof case.

This case also has a big pocket at the front to fit lens cap, battery, lens cleaner, spare SD card etc.

Rode Video MIcro

For Video you are going to need a quality shotgun microphone.

This one is perfect, it comes with a dead cat and mounts directly onto the camera mounting shoe.

GorillaPod Tripod

DSLR Video requires a big sturdy tripod, and this GorillaPod is ideal.

Manfrotto Tripod

OK I’ll be honest, I have yet to purchase this tripod, I have a cheaper tripod which does not pan smoothly enough for video.

This fluid Manfrotto Video Tripod is the answer, and the one I’m lusting after.

Manfrotto Backpack

I absolutely love this travel backpack. It is super light and lockable.

I normally fit all my DSLR kit, GoPro kit and general gadget kit for several weeks of travelling in this backpack.

And it’s indestructible.
